We provide 86:01, 86:10 and 86:11 paper jam error codes repairs with carriage movement. Error 42:10 scan axis motor failure is caused by friction during the carriage movement in the scan axis error.
We specialize on Design Jet plotter 86.01, 86:10 and 86:11 carriage movement failure on newer Design-Jet T120, T320, T730, T830 and T1700 plotters.
Carriage: We check to see the carriage is moving freely across the entire Scan Axis area. We assure that the carriage cover is properly closed. We remove all print-heads from the carriage to look for pieces of paper under the print heads.
Cutter: We make sure that the cutter is all the way to the left of the plotter and it engages and disengages correctly and move freely on the rail for Design-Jet T610, T1100, T620, T1120, Z2100, Z3100, Z3200 and Z5200 plotters with the cutter not attached to the carriage. We make sure that the cutter slides freely when the carriage is manually moved from side to side on Design Jet T770, T1200, T790, T1300, T2300 and Z5400 with cutter attached to the carriage. The cutter should be deactivated (up position) pieces of paper should not obstruct its movement.
Belt: We always inspect for loose, worn-out, shredded or broken belt. If the carriage belt is broken the Scan Axis Motor will not be able to grab it and move it.
Encoder strip: We inspect the encoder strip for scratch, bent or damaged. We clean dirty encoder strip using a non-abrasive liquid and a lint-free cloth.
Service station: We look for pieces or paper in the service station. We check for obstruction, if the carriage stops on it when it shows the 86:01, 86:10 or 86:11 system errors.
Star-wheel assembly: We check to see if there is a piece of paper under the star wheel assembly if so it will not be able to move up and down correctly. If it remains only in the up position, the carriage may touch it when it moves from side to side. When the lever on the left is up, paper should manually pass under the Star-wheel Assembly and through the complete Paper Axis area (from the back to the front) with no problems.
Trailing Cable/Ink tubes: We inspect the Ink Tubes to see it is moving freely and following the movement of the carriage. They must also slide freely through the Tube Rail. The Trailing Cable must freely move and follow the movement of the carriage and tubes.
Scan Axis Motor: We check to see the scan axis is able to move the carriage while initializing if so the motor is okay. If the Scan Axis Motor moves then most likely the motor is not the problem.
